Night of Science 2026 Opened the Doors to the World of Advanced Materials

06.10.2026

Once again, the Centre of Polymer Systems at Tomas Bata University in Zlín welcomed members of the public on the evening of Friday, 25 September 2026 as part of the annual Night of Science event. Visitors of all ages had a unique opportunity to gain insight into the world of research and discover how modern science influences our everyday lives. This year's theme was Communication.

Visitors were guided throughout the CPS building by a newly introduced floor navigation system, which gradually led them to all prepared activity stations. The tour began in the technology hall, where attendees could, for the very first time, observe the process of double-layer blown film extrusion. Using the produced material, visitors were able to create their own bags and take home an original souvenir.

On the first floor, a series of interactive activities introduced the fascinating world of advanced materials. Particular interest was generated by demonstrations of electrospinning, a process that produces fibers thinner than a human hair, as well as the slime laboratory for young and adult researchers alike and other experiments showcasing the possibilities of contemporary materials research.

The traditional highlight of the tour was the production of customized souvenirs using a CO₂ laser. Visitors could have unique items created for them while learning about the capabilities of modern technologies used in both research and industrial practice.

We would like to thank all visitors for their interest, curiosity, and the friendly atmosphere that prevailed throughout the evening. Special thanks also go to the staff, students, and volunteers who helped prepare and run the program. We look forward to meeting you again at Night of Science 2027.
